young kids reading books

Each month I share a book of the month with my email list. My kids love to read and I know I’m always looking for new fun stories to add to our home libary. I’ve collected all our favorites here and don’t forget to join the email list for weekly craft & activity ideas.

Book of the Month

Super Simple Science Experiments

Our current pick for Book of the Month is “Super Simple Science Experiments“! This one is a little different from our usual picks since it’s not a fiction book.

It’s full of 100 experiments that use mostly simple items you already have at home…like one we tried that uses markers, coffee filters, and water!

Past Favorites

mighty dads book on carpet

Mighty Dads

Mighty Dads” is full of fun construction trucks and their kids. Kids love trucks and this book teaches you a little about what each different kind of vehicle does.

We also added our own fun hand movements and both of my kids loved this book!

Trashy Town

Trashy Town” is a great book for kids that are fans of the garbage man. We grabbed it at the library and my daughter loved it so much she even took it to school to share with her friends!

It has fun repeating lines that will have your kids “reading” along with you in no time.

Dear girl book

Dear Girl

Dear Girl“. It’s a sweet book that reminds young girls how amazing they are and that you’ll always be there for them!

And don’t worry, if you have boys there is a similar book by the same authors called “Dear Boy“.

How to babysit a grandma

How to Babysit a Grandma

One of our new favorite books is called “How to Babysit a Grandma“. My kids love all their grandmas so it’s a super fun book for them.
It’s basically about all the fun things you do when you stay with grandma.

There is a companion book called “How to Babysit a Grandpa“. We have it too after my daughter begged to get it. It’s cute too but I don’t think it’s nearly as good as the grandma one.

I love you just like this

I Love you just like this

“I Love you just Like This”. It’s a must have if your kids are fans of Sesame Street, especially Elmo.

This book is all about all the ways Elmo’s mother loves him and features counting and more but it isn’t overly mushy in my opinion.

Grumpy Monkey

Grumpy Monkey

“Grumpy Monkey” is about a monkey who is feeling a little grumpy today for no particular reason. My youngest calls it the “mad oo oo” book.

It’s a cute read and a good way to talk about feeling grumpy with your kids.

Monster mama loves me so

My Monster Mama Loves Me So

If you need a Halloween book, “My Monster Mama Loves Me So” is a cute story all about how a little monsters mama shows her love. It’s a fun story to read with your kids.

At the end of Halloween season I pack it away with our Halloween decorations and next year it’s like we’ve discovered it all over again!

Night Night Groot book

Night Night, Groot

Night Night, Groot makes a great addition to your bedtime library.

This is such a fun read. And it’s fun for parents to read too if they’re Marvel fans like my husband and myself.
