Why Multiplication Matters in Third Grade
Multiplication lays the foundation for so many future math concepts, from division to fractions and even algebra. When kids master their times tables, they gain the confidence to tackle more advanced skills.
Benefits of our 3rd Grade Multiplication Worksheets
These worksheets each include 4 different sections. Each page is devoted to practicing just one set of the times tables.
- Remember the concept: The first section helps them to remember what multiplication really means: X groups of X. They are also invited to draw a picture which should look like an array. (Arrays are commonly used to start teaching multiplication by looking at it as repeated addition.)
- Skip counting: Next, it’s time for some skip counting. They will skip count by whichever multiplication fact is being practiced on the page.
- Fill in the answers: Now, let’s put that knowledge to use answering the multiplication problems from 0-10. The problems are in order for this section. Once they have all the answers, they are encouraged to say them all out loud 1-2 times so they can hear them as well as see them.
- Practice from memory: Finally, it’s time to cover the first part of the page and try to remember the answers without looking. (These problems are out of order to discourage them only memorizing the answers in order.)

How These Worksheets Support Math with Confidence
You can use these worksheets with any math curriculum you like. But, if you use the Math with Confidence curriculum, there is a reminder at the top of each worksheet with the tips used in that curriculum.
These can be used in a classroom, homeschool, or just some extra practice. I hope these free multiplication worksheets are helpful.
Need more practice?
For even more practice, you can use Xtra Math to drill the facts once they begin to have them memorized. Once they master them all they’ll even get a little certificate which my daughter loved.
She also enjoyed trying to beat her previous score so it is a little bit gamified in that way. And it’s totally FREE.
