Is it worth it?
If you’re considering a family trip to Great Wolf Lodge Anaheim, you’re first question is probably, “Is it worth it?”
As someone who recently visited with my family, I can confidently say: Yes, it absolutely is!
We had such a fantastic time that my kids were begging to stay longer, and we’re already thinking about planning another visit next year.
We visited Great Wolf Lodge right when the school year started, which meant fewer crowds and shorter lines.
However, a friend of mine who has been to the lodge during peak seasons mentioned that while the lines can get quite long, it’s still worth the visit. She’s been back several times despite the crowds!
Top 5 things about Great Wolf Lodge
While my experience is specific to the Anaheim location, many of the Great Wolf Lodge resorts across the country offer similar amenities and experiences.
Here are some of my favorite things about our stay:
#1 – The Waterpark
The waterpark was, without a doubt, the highlight of our trip. It’s the perfect size—not too big that I worried about losing my kids, but large enough to offer a variety of activities for all ages.
From little kids to adults, there is something for everyone. You can enjoy thrilling rides or, like me, relax with a book while occasionally joining in on the fun with your kids.
#2 – The Wolf Ears
Upon check-in, every guest receives a complimentary pair of adorable wolf ears from the gift shop.
They were a hit with my kids and a fun, free souvenir that we got to take home. Who doesn’t love a freebie, right?
#3 – The Wristbands
One of the most convenient features at Great Wolf Lodge is the wristbands. Each guest receives one upon arrival, and these nifty little bands are your room key!
For adults, the wristbands even have a built-in payment option, so you don’t have to worry about carrying your wallet around the waterpark or risking it getting lost or stolen. It’s such a stress-free way to enjoy the park!
You can scan your band at any restaurant in the hotel to pay for things…even the Dunkin’ Donuts.
Just don’t forget that whatever you scan is being charged to your room!
#4 – Breakfast Buffet
We thoroughly enjoyed the Loose Moose Breakfast Buffet. It was the perfect way to fuel up for a day of fun. There were tons of options.
There were pancakes, muffins, pastries, breakfast meats, and made to order eggs or omelets.
There was also lighter fare like fresh fruit, a yogurt bar, & an oatmeal bar.
The kids loved that their drinks came in cute little souvenir cups that they could take home—another great memento from our trip!
#5 – Free Activities
Beyond the waterpark, Great Wolf Lodge offers a wide range of free activities to keep everyone entertained. At check-in, we received a list of various activities available throughout the day.
Although we only had one full day and didn’t get to try them out, they offer options like morning yoga for adults, crafts, and activity times for kids, and even a dance party in the evening.
These activities are great for those staying multiple days or if you need a break from the waterpark but still want to keep the kids entertained…without paying for that magic quest thing.
The bottom line is. This was a fantastic family vacation. There are some things I wish I’d packed. I will also bring more food next time to save money and because the food was not very good.
