Hanukkah is such a special time of year, and incorporating meaningful activities like crafts helps kids connect with the holiday traditions in a hands-on way whether they’re Jewish or just learning about different world holidays.
What is a Menorah?
The Menorah, also known as the hanukkiah, is a nine-branched candelabrum that is lit during Hanukkah to commemorate the miracle of the oil.
According to tradition, when the Maccabees rededicated the Temple in Jerusalem, they found only enough oil to light the Menorah for one day—but it miraculously burned for eight days!
This is why Jewish people light the Menorah for eight nights during Hanukkah, adding one candle each night, plus the shamash (helper candle), which is used to light the others.

Directions
This simple paper craft is a easy way to celebrate Hanukkah with kids.
1 – First print out both pages of the printable template. Set the candles aside and color the Menorah.
Menorahs come in many colors, including silver, gold, blue, white, and other colors. Traditional menorahs were often made from precious metals, such as gold.
Kids can color theirs however they wish.
2 – Choose a candle flame. You can simply print and cut out the colored candle flames OR choose one of the outlines and kids can color their own candle flames.
3 – Light your Menorah. If you are doing this as a simple classroom craft kids can glue the flames on all the candles at one time.
You can also use this as a way for kids to add to their own Menorah for the 8 days of Hanukkah.

The craft prints on two 8.5″ x 11″ pieces of paper.
