Supplies
- printable template
- markers (green, yellow, and black)
- sequins
- scissors
- glue
- q-tips
Directions
1 – First on your list is printing the template (Download it below).
I recommend printing it on cardstock paper.
2 – Before you start cutting color the tree green and the star yellow. By coloring first you can cut off any “mistakes” where kids color outside the lines
Then, trace the dotted lines with a black marker or a dark green marker to create the string for your lights.
(This is also a great little tracing activity for developing fine motor control)

3 – Now, go ahead and cut out the tree. Save a big piece of the extra paper, it makes a great spot to put your glue for the next step.
4 – Pour yourself a pile of glue then grab your sequins and q-tips. Use the q-tips to place a dot of glue on the light string and then place a sequin. Be sure to place them with the flat side down.
(This is also great for fine motor skills. Picking up those small sequins isn’t that easy!)
Continue to glue sequins on until the tree is full. You can put them close together or space them out, each tree will be unique!
We kept a wet paper towel near by so we could wipe off sticky fingers as we went along.
5 – For the final touch glue the star to the top of the tree, then display your masterpiece!

The tree and star both print on one 8.5″x11″ page. You’ll want to print them on cardstock for the best result.
