Easy Christmas Wreath Craft {for preschool and toddlers}

Christmas is such a fun time of year and there are so many crafts you can do. A Christmas wreath is a fun & easy craft to make with kids.

This Christmas wreath is made from a paper plate, toilet roll, green paint, red pom poms, and a ribbon or Christmas bow.

It’s easy enough to do with toddlers or preschool age kids.

I love this craft because it’s easy enough for even young kids to do.

Also, because it uses mostly items you already have in your home which means you may be able to skip the trip to the store!

How to make the Christmas Wreath

1 – Use the sponge brush to paint the toilet rolls green and allow them to dry. (You’ll need 2-3 tubes per wreath.)

2 – While your paint dries cut a large hold in the center of your paper plate.

3 – Once the toilet rolls have dried completely, cut each into three pieces.

4 – Glue the cardboard pieces around the hole on the plate. Leave space at the top or bottom for the bow.

5 – Make a bow out of a piece of ribbon and glue it to the top of the plate. You can also use a Christmas bow like the ones you put on a present.

6 – Glue small red pom poms to the cardboard pieces to create “holly berries” on the wreath.

If you don’t have pom-poms you could also bunch small squares of red tissue paper into balls and glue those on instead.

7 – Allow the glue to dry completely before displaying your Christmas wreath.

Materials

  • Toilet Roll or Cardboard Tube
  • Green Paint
  • Sponge Brush
  • Red pom poms (about 1/4 inch)
  • Red Ribbon or Christmas Bow
  • Paper or styrofoam plate

Tools

  • Scissors
  • Glue and/or glue dots

Instructions

    1. Paint the toilet rolls with green paint. Allow to dry completely.
    2. Cut a large hole in the middle of the paper plate.
    3. Once dry, cut each toilet roll into 3 equal pieces.
    4. Attach the green pieces around the hole in the plate with glue or glue dots leaving a space at the top or bottom for the bow.
    5. Tie a red ribbon into a bow and glue it onto the plate or use a Christmas bow.
    6. Glue pom-poms to the wreath as "holly berries".
    7. Allow to dry completely before displaying.
